Five SEO Link Building Strategies to Drive Website Traffic

Link Building Strategies The internet is increasingly competitive every day. How do you make your website stand out to attract website links and traffic?

There are many search engine, online, and offline strategies that make people want to visit and link to your website. Here are 5 effective strategies to help you grow your website traffic whether you are a business, online blog, or an individual like me.

1) Title and Meta Description Tags

The title tag on your web pages is the most relevant item to search engines, and also very relevant to your website visitors. It quickly describes what your website is about and what to expect from it.

Meta descriptions are more important to your web visitors than search engines. It tells them what your website is about in the search engine results. If your description is relevant to what they are looking for, they will click through to your site.

2) Domain Age and Search Engine Friendly URLs

If you are starting a new website, invest in a domain name that has been around for at least 5 years to help you out with the Google Sandbox Effect.

The words contained in the URL of your web pages should describe what your website is about. These are called Search Engine Friendly (SEF) url’s and should contain the keywords that describe your webpage content.

3) Sitemaps

The most popular search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) let you submit sitemaps that help them understand the structure and content layout in your website. This is a great way to help with your search engine rankings and organizes your website into an intuitive layout.

4) Listen To Your Visitors

Success for any business, website, or individual hinges on finding out what your target audience wants. A great way to find this out is to simply ask them whether it is through online surveys, social media, email, or in-person. Once you find out what they want, your success then depends on being able to deliver that need.

5) Networking

Networking outside of the internet is an essential and sometimes overlooked strategy for your website. Go to local events and conferences related to what your website covers. Make friends, business connections, socialize, and discuss what’s hot and important. This is a great way to learn what is on the mind of your audience, and make the market aware of your name, website, brand, and opinions.

  • Hi, this is Smart Boy from Twitter. Thought I’d drop by, as you sent me your link. Great blog design. Although it’s a blog - it almost gives that “social media” updated content feel.

As for driving traffic to websites, I definately agree on the important of seo urls. It’s very important to have the keyword heavy title of your post included in the url. I also agree that networking via social media can be a very powerful tool. Great work - keep up the articles!
