Web Analytics Wednesday: Toronto Edition Part 1
The hardest part about being a Web Analyst is successfully communicating its potential. The Web Analytics Association educates, researches, and develops standards for the Web Analytics industry. More importantly it helps web analysts and internet marketers network.
Web Analytics Wednesday is the world’s largest network for web analytics professionals. It’s usually a sponsored event in a pub or similar venue that includes free food and drinks, and a great networking atmosphere for people interested in web analytics and/or internet marketing.
Here’s why I think the WAW Event in Toronto this June 3 should be fun and productive:
1) First Time is Exciting
I always find trying things out for the first time is fun and exciting, any change from a routine is always refreshing. I almost always come out feeling gratified and rewarded, and the first time doing something is often my most memorable and cherished experience. My first time fishing, and getting a ticket for jaywalking are two examples, will Web Analytics Wednesday be a similar experience?
2) Free Food and Drinks!
I don’t go looking for freebies, but having them at an event I’m already going to sure doesn’t hurt. The best socializing and networking is done over food and drinks in my experience.
3) Networking Opportunities
I’m very interested in many aspects of online marketing, Web Analytics being one of my biggest. This event attracts people with similar interests, and I’m keen on learning and reporting on the Web Analytics Scene in Toronto.
4) Friendly and Familiar Atmosphere
I’m lucky enough to live in downtown Toronto, so I’m familiar with Fion MacCool’s pub, the location of this event. I think a bar/pub is the ideal place to socialize, its a familiar and comforting place to meet friends and talk.
5) Fun!
The main reason I’m going to this event is the same reason I decided to get involved in internet marketing, web analytics, and start my own blog… it’s fun! It’s taken me a while to find out what I really like to do, but I’ve found it and its been very rewarding.
6) Great Source of Blog Content
I’ve quickly realized that one of the most important keys to a successful website or blog is unique content. It is also one of the hardest to produce because thinkin ain’t easy.
This event gives me a great opportunity to cover the Web Analytics scene in Toronto. I’d also like to review the Web Analytics Wednesday Sponsor’s presentation and pitch at this event, and understand what makes them different / better than their competitors.
